Meet Alex
Alex Thymmons is a combat veteran, husband, father, and small business owner who has lived the challenges Northern Virginia families face every day. Born under communism and choosing America as his home, he earned his citizenship and went on to serve with distinction in the U.S. Army, leading troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and earning the Bronze Star medal. After his service, he built a business, volunteered with veterans and community groups, and raised a family right here in Virginia. Alex knows firsthand the burden of high housing costs, long commutes, and Washington dysfunction that threatens federal workers and squeezes working families.

The Platform
Cost Relief
Northern Virginia is too expensive. I’ll fight to lower everyday costs: housing, groceries, energy, education. I’ll introduce legislation to rein in federal overspending that fuels inflation while advancing targeted tax relief so Virginia families keep more of every paycheck for groceries and gas. I’ll also push bills to expand American energy production and simplify federal student aid, driving down utility bills and education costs for working families.
Housing Access
Families are locked out of homes. I’ll cut barriers to building and expand affordable options. I’ll back legislation to cut federal red tape and speed up permitting so more homes can be built across Northern Virginia. I’ll also push tax incentives and financing reforms that expand starter homes and workforce housing, giving families real access to homeownership.
Safe Neighborhoods
Crime and drugs threaten our streets. I’ll strengthen law enforcement and community programs. I’ll support federal funding for local police departments to hire and equip more officers, and I’ll oppose any effort to defund law enforcement. I’ll also back tougher penalties for fentanyl trafficking and direct federal grants to community programs that prevent crime and keep kids off the streets.
Federal Stability
Shutting down the government punishes NOVA’s 100,000 federal workers. I’ll stop shutdown games and protect their paychecks. I’ll co-sponsor legislation like “No Budget, No Pay” to ensure Members of Congress don’t collect a paycheck if they shut down the government. I’ll also support automatic continuing resolution bills that keep federal agencies funded and protect paychecks for the 100,000 Northern Virginia federal workers who serve our nation.
